HVAC Electricity Cost Calculator
Calculate the electricity cost of any HVAC equipment from its wattage and run time.

Nameplate wattage is the maximum draw. Modulating and variable-speed equipment averages well below it, so this is an upper bound for those systems.

About this calculator
How do I find my equipment's wattage?
The data plate on the unit lists volts and amps, multiply them for watts. For 240V equipment remember to use the full voltage, not 120.
Why is my bill higher than this?
Because this covers one piece of equipment. Auxiliary heat strips, blower motors running continuously and defrost cycles on heat pumps all add consumption the nameplate does not show.
The formula
kWh = watts ÷ 1,000 × hours × days
