Close rate is the cheapest number in your business to improve. Work out where you are and what moving it is worth.

Current close rate 30.0%
Extra revenue per year at target $83,520
Extra jobs per month at target 4.8
Value of estimates not won, per month $60,900
You close 30.0% of estimates. Reaching 38% is $83,520 a year from the same number of estimates.

Estimates still pending are counted as not won. If you have a long decision cycle, compare a month's estimates to the jobs that came from that month rather than to the same month's wins.

Questions

About this calculator

What is a good close rate?

It varies enormously by trade, ticket size and how leads are qualified. The useful comparison is against your own rate last quarter, not against someone else's business.

Why is my close rate falling as I grow?

Usually because estimate volume grew faster than follow-up capacity. More quotes with less chasing produces a lower rate even when nothing about the pricing changed.

How many follow-ups should an estimate get?

More than most contractors send. A single quote emailed once and never mentioned again is the norm, which is exactly why consistent follow-up moves the number so much.

Most estimates are lost to silence, not to price

Automated follow-up keeps every quote alive until the customer actually decides.
