About this calculator
How do I measure siding area?
Multiply each wall's length by its height and add gables as triangles. Half the base times the height. Add the results, then apply the waste factor.
How much waste for lap siding?
Ten to fifteen per cent typically. Complex elevations with dormers, many windows or several corners run higher.
