About this calculator
Why do roofing quotes vary so widely?
Tear-off layers, pitch, access, deck condition and the quality of underlayment and flashing. Two quotes with the same shingle can differ by a third on everything underneath it.
Can I roof over the existing shingles?
Code often allows two layers, but it hides deck problems, shortens the new roof's life and makes the next tear-off more expensive. Most roofers advise against it.
