General
Percentage Increase Calculator
Calculate the percentage increase between two numbers, and see what the new value would be after a given rise.
Result
Percentage increase is always measured against the original value. Reversing the two numbers does not give the same percentage back. A rise from 100 to 150 is +50%, but the fall from 150 to 100 is −33%.

About this calculator
Why isn't a 50% rise cancelled by a 50% fall?
Because each percentage applies to a different base. $100 up 50% is $150; $150 down 50% is $75, not $100. To reverse a 50% increase you need a 33.3% decrease.
How do I raise my prices by a percentage?
Multiply by 1 plus the percentage as a decimal. A 7% rise on $850 is 850 × 1.07 = $909.50.
What if the original value is negative?
Percentage change is unreliable across a sign change and can be misleading. Report the absolute movement instead when the starting figure is negative or zero.
The formula
(new − original) ÷ original × 100 = % increase
