Your score

How the score works

This walks the stages an enquiry passes through and scores each one, on the basis that an enquiry lost at the first stage never reaches the rest. The points total a hundred across the stages, and the gap is converted into money the same transparent way: missing points give a capped share of recoverable enquiries, multiplied by your close rate and your average job value, with each step shown.

What moves the score

  • The earliest stage that scores badly, since losses there make later stages irrelevant.
  • Whether enquiries arrive through a channel nobody monitors.
  • How long a quote takes to reach the customer.
  • What happens to a customer after a job is finished.

Where this goes wrong

Fix the earliest leak first. A business that improves its quoting speed while enquiries still go unanswered at the phone has improved a stage that fewer people reach, and the gain is proportionally smaller than it looks. The stages are sequential for a reason. The other caution is that a low score on the post-job stage is easy to dismiss and is frequently the largest number, because repeat and referral work costs nothing to acquire and compounds over years.

Before you act on it

  • Work on the earliest poor-scoring stage first.
  • Check what happens to enquiries arriving outside working hours.
  • Count the post-job stage properly rather than discounting it.
  • Re-run it after a change rather than assuming the fix worked.

Questions

About this tool

How is this different from the speed-to-lead scorecard?

Speed-to-lead looks at the first few minutes after an enquiry arrives. This walks the whole path, from whether people can reach you at all through to what happens after the job is done. Businesses often score well on one and badly on the other.

Which stage usually loses the most?

Quote turnaround, by a wide margin. A quote that takes a week arrives after the customer has already accepted someone else's, and the work that went into the site visit is wasted.

Is the dollar figure reliable?

It is illustrative, not a forecast. It uses your enquiry volume, job value and close rate, assumes only part of the gap is ever recoverable, and shows the arithmetic. Check it against what you know about your own business.

How useful was this tool?

Not rated yet. Yours would be the first.

Knowing the score is useful. Closing the gap means changing what happens when the phone rings, which is what the audit is for.

What this tool does not do

The score is a weighted sum with visible weights, not a benchmark against anyone else. The dollar figure is an illustration built from your own numbers and a capped recovery share, and it says nothing about how long any of the fixes would take.

Want this to happen without you doing it

This tool does the job once. BDEVY builds the system that does it every time, for every customer, without anyone remembering to.
