About this calculator
What should I use for vehicle cost per mile?
Take last year's fuel, tyres, servicing, repairs, insurance and depreciation for the fleet and divide by miles driven. It is usually higher than people expect, and it is the half of drive-time cost that never shows up on a timesheet.
How much can dispatching realistically reduce travel?
Nobody can tell you without knowing your territory. The honest way to find out is to measure your current average trip for a month, change how you assign, and measure again. A demonstration on sample data (including ours) is an illustration of the mechanism, not a forecast.
Is it worth clustering jobs by area?
Usually, and it is the cheapest change available: group a technician's day into one part of the map rather than letting the booking order decide. The trade-off is appointment windows, because tighter clustering means less flexibility about when a customer is seen.
