How do I convert minutes to decimal hours for payroll?
Divide by 60. Forty-five minutes is 0.75 hours, not 0.45, entering 8.45 instead of 8.75 for an eight-and-three-quarter-hour shift is one of the most common payroll errors.
Does this handle overnight shifts?
Yes. If the finish time is before the start time it assumes the shift crossed midnight and adds 24 hours.
What about drive time?
If travel is paid, include it in the start and finish times. Unbilled drive time is the single largest hidden labour cost in field service work.
