Fence needed 232 Linear feet
Full perimeter 300 Linear feet
Taken up by gates 8 Linear feet
Estimated installed cost $7,885
232 linear feet of fence plus 2 gates, roughly $7,885 installed. Gates cost noticeably more per foot than plain fence.

Measure the actual boundary rather than the plot dimensions. Slopes make the fence longer than the plan shows, and a boundary that is not square catches people out. Confirm the property line before anything is dug.

Questions

About this calculator

Should I fence the front?

Many jurisdictions restrict front-yard fence height, often to three or four feet, where the back can be six. Check before ordering material for a uniform height.

Why do gates cost more?

They need heavier posts, hardware and bracing, and they are the part that gets used thousands of times. A gate hung on a line post will sag within a year.

The formula

fence = run of the sides being fenced - the width taken by gates
