About this calculator
What size sheets should I use?
4×8 (32 sq ft) is standard and handles easily; 4×12 (48 sq ft) creates fewer joints on long walls but needs two people and good access.
How much compound will I need?
Roughly a gallon per 100 square feet across all coats. Level 5 finishes and textured work use noticeably more.
The formula
sheets = (wall area × waste factor) ÷ sheet area
