About this calculator
Should I recover overhead per hour or per dollar?
Per hour is more accurate for labour-heavy work, because a job's overhead consumption tracks the time it ties up your crew, not its material value.
My overhead percentage looks high. Is that bad?
Not necessarily. It usually means either revenue is too low for your cost base or you carry more infrastructure than your volume needs. Both are fixable once measured.
