Tile Calculator
Calculate tiles, boxes, thinset and grout for a floor or wall.
Result
Thinset and grout quantities depend heavily on tile size, trowel notch and joint width. Large-format tile uses far more thinset per square foot than mosaic; small mosaic uses far more grout.

About this calculator
How much extra tile should I buy?
Twelve per cent for a straight lay, 20% for diagonal or patterned work. Keep the offcuts and a spare box. Matching a discontinued tile later is usually impossible.
How much thinset do I need?
Roughly one 50 lb bag per 95 square feet with a quarter-inch notch trowel. Large-format tile needing a half-inch notch can halve that coverage.
