Gutter Calculator
Estimate gutter length, downspouts, hangers and cost for a house.
Result
One downspout per 35 feet of gutter is a common rule of thumb. Steep roofs, large catchment areas and high-rainfall regions need more. The gutter size calculator works it out properly.

About this calculator
How many downspouts do I need?
At least one every 35 feet, and more where a large or steep roof drains into a short run. Undersized drainage shows up as gutters overflowing in heavy rain, not in normal weather.
What hanger spacing should I use?
Two feet is standard. Reduce to 18 inches in areas with snow and ice loading, which is what pulls gutters off fascia.
