Solar Installation Time Calculator
How long an installation takes, from system size, roof type and crew size.
Result
Install time here covers the physical work only. Permitting, utility interconnection approval, inspection scheduling and any required electrical service upgrade routinely take far longer than the installation and are what actually determines how long a customer waits.

About this calculator
Why do extra roof planes cost so much time?
Each plane means separate rail layout, separate flashing, more conduit routing and often a separate string. Two small planes take noticeably longer than one large one of the same area.
What about permitting time?
Not included, and it is usually the longest part. Permit review and utility approval can run weeks to months depending on jurisdiction, while the roof work is one or two days.
The formula
hours = kW x base hours per kW x roof factor x plane factor, plus battery time
