What does COP mean?

Units of heat moved per unit of electricity used. A COP of 5 means the unit delivers five times more heat energy than the electricity it consumes, because it moves heat rather than creating it.

Why does it heat so slowly?

Because it is sized to maintain a temperature rather than to raise one quickly. Initial heating from cold can take several days, which is why heat pumps are paired with covers.
