About this calculator
Should I charge for travel?
Either bill it directly or build it into the rate. What you cannot do is ignore it. An hour of unbilled driving on a four-hour job is a quarter of your labour margin.
How much should a helper cost?
Roughly half a licensed plumber's burdened rate. A helper pays for themselves when they cut the licensed plumber's on-site hours by more than their own cost.
