Car Wash Revenue Calculator
Project wash revenue from traffic, capture rate, tier mix and the hours the site is genuinely busy.
Result
Service lines rarely carry the same margin. Splitting them is the only way to see which part of the business is paying for the rest, which is frequently not the part that looks busiest.
Get a Free Business AuditWhat moves the number
- Capture rate from passing traffic, which is a site and signage question.
- Peak hour throughput, since most revenue arrives in a few hours.
- Membership share, which converts irregular visits into predictable revenue.
Where this one goes wrong
Modelling revenue on opening hours rather than on busy hours. A site open twelve hours may take most of its money in three, and capacity that is only tested at peak is the capacity that matters.
Questions
About this calculator
What is a realistic capture rate?
It depends entirely on site, visibility, access and competition, which is why it is worth measuring rather than assuming. Count vehicles past and vehicles in over a few typical days.
Do memberships increase revenue?
They increase predictability and visit frequency and lower revenue per wash. Whether the total rises depends on your usage rate, which needs measuring.
How much does queueing cost?
More than most operators think. Drivers who see a queue rarely wait, so peak capacity constraints show up as lost revenue rather than as longer queues.
The formula
revenue = jobs x average value; gross profit = revenue x margin

A worked example
These are the figures the calculator opens with. Every number in the results column below is produced by the same calculation the page runs, so you can follow it through before putting your own figures in.
What goes in
| Input | Value |
|---|---|
| Repair jobs per month | 28 |
| Average value | $520 |
| Gross margin on this work | 46% |
| Share of total revenue | 40% |
What comes out
| Result | Value |
|---|---|
| Repair revenue per month main result | $14,560 |
| Per year | $174,720 |
| Gross profit per year | $80,371 |
| Implied total business revenue | $436,800 |
The repair line brings in $174,720 a year and earns $80,371 of gross profit on it.
How sensitive the answer is
Holding everything else steady and changing only average value, this is what happens to repair revenue per month. It is worth knowing which of your inputs the answer actually hinges on, and which barely move it.
| Average value ($) | Repair revenue per month |
|---|---|
| $260 | $7,280 |
| $390 | $10,920 |
| $520 example above | $14,560 |
| $780 | $21,840 |
| $1,040 | $29,120 |
Every other input is held at the example value while this one changes, which is not how a real job behaves. Treat it as a guide to which number matters most, not as five separate quotes.
